Fire/EMS

Funding

The Township pays for fire/EMS services with proceeds from two property tax levies, including a 2.00 mill continuing levy (fire only) and a 2.89 mill continuing levy (fire & EMS).  Both levies were most recently replaced by approval of Township voters on May 8, 2001.

Services

The Township does not have its own fire/EMS department.  The Township contracts periodically with another entity to provide fire/EMS services.  Most recently the Township in 2008 entered into a 3.5-year (43-month) contract for mid-2008 through 2011, inclusive.  The Township currently contracts with the City of Twinsburg for fire/EMS services.  The Township’s current fire/EMS services contract runs through 12/31/2011.

In the event of a fire/EMS emergency, please call 911.  911 calls from land-based telephone lines in the Township are routed to the Summit County Communications Center, with fire/EMS emergency calls relayed to the City of Twinsburg Communications Center, which dispatches the City of Twinsburg Fire Department for fire/EMS emergency calls in the Township.  911 calls from wireless telephone lines are routed to the community in which the wireless communications tower receiving the call is located and then, if found to be in the Township, relayed to the Summit County Communications Center for handling in the manner outlined above.

Ad Hoc Safety Committee

The Board of Trustees appoints Ad Hoc Safety Committee (SC) members to one-year terms, to fulfill duties as assigned by the Board of Trustees.  The SC reviews and considers Township safety matters, including but not limited to safety service contracts and funding.  The SC meets, deliberates, and acts on all matters in public.  SC meetings are generally held on a quarterly basis and scheduled as needed, with SC members on call as issues arise.  All meetings are held in the Meeting Room of Township Hall, 1790 Enterprise Parkway, Twinsburg, OH 44087.
