Senior Snow

The Senior Snow Program began in 2005 as a way to assist residents who - for reason of age and/or disability - are unable to do such work, and where no other persons residing at the same address are capable of doing such workThe Township currently offers snow plowing services free of charge to residents age 60 and older, as well as disabled residents.  A property must, however, have a house on it and be occupied only by one or more qualifying residents to receive this service.  The Township Service Department removes snow from qualified driveways during the winter season, generally beginning in December and ending in March.  An application must be completed each year to verify conformance to eligibility requirements, and residents must comply with Program rules to help keep this service cost-effective and efficient for all, as follows:

Hours in which this service may be provided vary with weather conditions.

Program service is provided only after snow accumulates to a depth of three inches or more, and only as determined by the Township Service Department.

Program service includes clearing a single-width (eight foot minimum) path from the garage or designated parking area to the street, with a double-width (16 foot minimum) path cleared on any property with a double-width driveway.

Clearing may be by way of plowing, blowing or both.

Cleared snow is placed on front lawn areas outside the public right-of-way, off of all sidewalks and roadways.

The Township makes every effort to protect all driveways, lawns, shrubs, trees, building surfaces and contents from harm and damage during the performance of work, but will not be liable for any damage that occurs or repairs that are necessary.

All resident communication under the Program is with Township Hall during normal business hours, with no direct or other contact with drivers or other Township Service Department employees permitted.

The 2011-2012 Senior Snow Program is provided free of charge to eligible Township residents.  2011-2012 Program applications, including Program rules, are available at Township Hall.
