Police
Funding
The Township currently pays for police protection services with proceeds from four property tax levies, including a 3.00 mill continuing levy approved by Township voters on June 2, 1981, a 1.00 mill continuing levy approved by Township voters on May 8, 1984, a 1.14 mill continuing levy approved by Township voters on November 2, 1993, and a 1.75 mill continuing levy approved by Township voters on May 3, 2011. Those resources are currently also supplemented by a City of Reminderville contribution for additional policing services targeted at the Township’s Joint Economic Development District (JEDD) area. Even with recently approved levy proceeds first collected in 2012, however, expenditures have continued to exceed revenues. As a result, unless additional revenues are identified, those resources must be increasingly supplemented by Township General Fund revenues.
